Four Points Health Secures U.S. Patent for ACIS, Its Double-Loop Automated Claim Integrity System
ACIS corrects and validates claims before submission, then learns from how payers adjudicate them.
ST. LOUIS, MO. - July 30, 2026 — Four Points Health, a healthcare information technology company building agentic AI for hospital revenue cycle management and clinical workflows, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a Notice of Allowance for its patent application covering the Automated Claim Integrity System (ACIS). The Notice of Allowance, issued July 28, 2026, confirms the application has been approved. The patent names co-founder and CEO Jeff Hatfield and Vice President, Client Success Chris Rogers as co-inventors.
Denials remain one of the most expensive and least automated problems in hospital financial management. ACIS was designed around a simple premise: a denial prediction without governed execution doesn’t reduce denials, it only relocates the labor.
The system works as two coupled loops. Before submission, ACIS scores each claim for denial risk, routes flagged claims to autonomous correction agents matched to the specific defect, independently validates each correction, and releases the claim only when validation passes. After adjudication, ACIS feeds payer outcomes back as training data and monitors for shifts in payer behavior, so scoring and correction logic keep pace as payers revise their rules. Explainability is built in, so revenue cycle staff can see what drove each determination and remain accountable for the decision.
In production with a hospital client, ACIS has delivered a 25% reduction in denials, a one-day reduction in A/R days, and a 12.5x return on investment.
“A denial prediction on its own doesn’t reduce denials; it moves the work to someone’s queue,” said Jeff Hatfield, CEO and Co-Founder of Four Points Health. “ACIS fixes the claim before it goes out, then learns from what the payer does with it. Each loop makes the other one better.”
Four Points Health, which is profitable and founder-owned, has treated intellectual property as a core part of its strategy rather than a byproduct of engineering.
“This allowance turns years of engineering into a durable asset,” said Joe McCann, CFO/CRO and Co-Founder. “In a category where nearly everyone claims the same capabilities, examined and allowed claims are meaningful proof.”
“We spent years watching the same preventable defects go out the door and come back as denials,” said Chris Rogers, Vice President, Client Success, and co-inventor. “Payer rules change without notice. That’s why there are two loops: the system has to learn from what actually comes back, and every determination still has to be explainable to the person accountable for it.”
ACIS is EHR-agnostic, with primary deployment experience in Epic environments and additional experience in Meditech. It supports deployment across hospitals, integrated delivery networks, and health systems, including affiliate rollout through regional parent organizations.
